Tips in Choosing The Right Laptop or Notebook....!!

posted by my-blogmedia | Tuesday, March 25, 2008 | , ,

Hi, all..

Sometimes, several of us get the difficulty in choosing notebook or laptop when we would like to buy it. Don't worry, here are the simple recommendations for you, so don't be confusd anymore, okay?

Before you start shopping, know how you will be using your laptop. Are you looking for a mobile computer, a desktop replacement or something in between?

If you would like to have a mobile laptop or notebook, just focus on the thin, lightweight models. In exchange for their portability, lightweight models offer less power and functionality and their screens are on the smaller side (11-13 inches). You’ll want to make sure you get a battery that will last as long as possible (five to seven hours is great) and consider getting an optical drive (DVD or CD drive) that can be switched out to add another battery. Ultra thin models can come with an external optical drive and an external hard drive. When comparing weight, just remember to consider everything that you’ll be carrying – for example, the power adapter, extra batteries, any external drives and the case. Try to find out the “travel weight" versus the “actual weight."

Not going to be traveling with your computer much? You can get a laptop with up to a 17" screen, and you’ll want to have a built-in optical drive for convenience. If you will be taking your laptop out once in a while, look for one that has a battery that lasts two to three hours but doesn’t weigh more than seven pounds. On the other hand, if your computer will never leave the house or office, there are models that are 10 pounds or more with just about as much computing power as a desktop (but usually have a lower battery life).

The basics: For a machine on which you can happily send e-mail, surf the Internet and work on spreadsheets and word documents, you don’t need more than the basics in processing speed, memory and hard drive space.

Graphics, multimedia and gaming: Graphic design, video editing or sound recording programs will need more memory, a good video card (graphics processor), faster processing speeds and a high resolution display. Gamers especially will want to max out on these items for the best gaming performance.

Some terms to know

Processor (CPU): In essence, your computer’s “brain." The processor is a chip that processes information. Most new laptops come with a dual-core processor, though you can still find single-core processors in budget-priced laptops. All MacBooks use the Intel Core 2 Duo processors, while with PC laptops you have a choice between Intel and AMD processors. Laptops with AMD processors tend to be less expensive, but many experts prefer the price-to-performance ratio of the Intel chips.

Pointing device: All laptops come with either a track pad or a pointing stick, and MacBooks only come with a track pad. If you don’t know which type of device you prefer, go to your local computer store to try it out. Those using their laptop mostly as a desktop replacement can always plug a mouse into a USB port.

Memory (RAM): RAM is the short-term memory of your computer. While some laptops today ship with 1 GB of memory, you’ll probably want to have at least 4 GB. For those using their laptops for anything more than the basics, 2 GB is advisable – you can typically have it added when you make the purchase.

Ports: Ports are the slots on the side of the computer where you can plug in devices and cables. Many devices like a mouse, an external keyboard, flash drives (memory sticks) and cameras connect via a USB port, so you’ll want to have at least two of these. Other ports that you need for basic laptop use should come standard, such as the RJ-45 for an Ethernet cable and a video-out port for connecting to an external display (DVI is required for digital display). If you have a video camera or another device that uses FireWire, make sure you get a FireWire port on your laptop.

Optical drive: Many new laptops will come with a DVD-RW (writeable) drive, though some of the lower-end models may just read DVDs (DVD-ROM) and write to CDs. The advantages of having a DVD-RW include being able to save your backup data to DVDs or to burn DVDs to share your pictures or digital videos. All DVD-RWs can also burn to CDs.

Hard drive: This is the long-term memory of your computer. Most users won’t need more than 80 GB of hard drive, though you can get up to 300 GB if you have a lot of data or photos to store.

Networking: This refers to how your laptop connects to the Internet. All new laptops have built-in Ethernet, which is the standard way to connect to a DSL or cable modem. Many models now ship with built-in high-speed wireless Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) connectivity capabilities, and some also come with Bluetooth, which is handy for connecting cell phones and other small peripherals.

Safe and sound
Once you’ve found your perfect laptop, you’ll want to make sure to keep it safe and in good shape. If you’ll be taking it out into the world often, consider buying a cable lock, which can be used to secure your laptop to a physical object. You should also make sure you get a case with enough padding to protect it from getting bumped around. In the event that something goes wrong with your laptop, you’ll be glad to have a good warranty. Before you purchase the machine, read the warranty carefully to know what’s covered and what’s not. It’s a good idea to get a three-year warranty if you can.

In between having her life rebuilt by others, Spears found time last week to join Mel Gibson (yes, that Mel Gibson) and a few of his pals for dinner at a Russian restaurant in Los Angeles.
"Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible," a source tells the mag. "There are no expectations, there is no agenda. It's simply an act of human kindness ..." PageSix.com, however, believes Gibson hopes to convince Spears to warble a few hymns at his church.

Football Manager 2008 (FM 2008)...!!

posted by my-blogmedia | Saturday, March 22, 2008 | ,

Gamers,

Have you ever tried to play FM2008 game?. I see that this version have a better graphic display compare to FM2007. When it's installed in core 2 duo laptop, 2 GB RAM it seems run faster than FM2007. What do you think?. Should you have any cheats and tricks, you can share with us.

Here is the brief features of FM2008 quoted from it's official site.

Football Manager returns before Christmas packed full of new features for fans of the much-acclaimed series from Sports Interactive to feast their eyes on. Football Manager 2008 is out on PC / Mac this autumn, and offers football fans the chance to take on the greatest job on earth; manager of there favourite football club! Bigger, smoother and more in-depth than ever, Football Manager 2008 is packed full of so much newness it could well take a lifetime to discover every new feature. So we asked Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at SI Games, to take us through some of the changes you'll want to hear about most...

Transfer Center - A new way of managing all current transfer and loan bids for your club, both incoming and outgoing, making it easier to compare bids and reject or accept them.

Finance Revamp - Sports Interactive have updated the finance area of Football Manager 2008 to better reflect the ever-changing modern football world. More information is available to the manager too, including, but not limited to, corporate matchday income, season ticket news, investment funds, improved sponsorships, collective win bonuses and the ability to move around funds from the wage budget and transfer budget (and vice versa) at any point to help you in your quest for the ideal squad.

International Management - The international management gameplay has been completely revamped for Football Manager 2008, including, but not limited to, media improvements, international retirements, player interaction, international scouting, improved national pool selection, captain selection and a separation of international and club morale for players.

Match Flow - The largest change to matchdays in a Sports Interactive game since the introduction of the 2D match engine. Match flow brings more atmosphere to matchdays with match previews, team talks, opposition player instructions, the match itself, half time and post match now seamlessly following on from one another. There's no more pausing to make tactical changes and you'll find a mini-radar pitch whilst making those tactical changes to keep you in touch with what's going on in the match.

Confidence - You can now easily tell what your board and supporters think about your performance in the game through the new confidence section. This gives you feedback not just on your current progress in competitions, but also your financial management and signings.
Easier to Use - A much cleaner skin, a brand new advisor system to help you through various areas of the game, a new notes and notebook system, better button positioning for simpler navigation and an updated tutorial and manual. Also, coach reports to make taking over a new team easier and a new calendar system - which lists all important dates throughout the season - help to make Football Manager 2008 the easiest Sports Interactive game to use yet.

Fan Days - The board can now arrange fan days to boost ailing attendances, or for matches that are likely to attract a low crowd, with a long-term affect to attendances if all goes well.

Awards Overhaul - A full overhaul of the awards system inside the game, which is not only more accurate but also includes new awards, such as the European golden boot and a 'best eleven', which shows the all-time (in-game) best XI for all teams and nations.

Match Engine Improvements - A greatly improved match engine, once again utilizing the footballing brain of Ray Houghton and other tools used by real-life managers, to make the most accurate simulation of football in a computer game even more like-life than ever before. Oh, and the ability to change the pitch dimensions at the start of the season to suit your style of play better.

Expanded Media - More media and feedback than ever before, plus more detail in existing media, and a new competition news section to find out what major things are going on in all league competitions.Regenerated Player Photos - All in-game regenerated players now have pictures using FaceGen technology to give each player more personality. This gives the ability for players to be seen to mature and grow-up looks-wise in front of your eyes as the game is going on.

Speedyfastier - Saving and loading is now significantly faster, with network gaming quicker and smoother to play, as well as tactical changes and match reports being faster than ever before.

Young Indonesian Blood Football Player at FC Utrecht ...!!!

Hi all,

Here is the young Indonesian blood football player, Irfan Bachdim. Is anyone have ever known him before?. Not yet?. Don't worry. I'll make the intro for you. Last year he joined Indonesian U-23 National Team in 2006 when they held training center in Holland. He started his first debut for his team FC Utrecht last Sunday (17/2). He wore custom no 42, and played for 90 minutes till the end when they matched againt VVV-Venlo at Galgenwaard stadion. Unfortunately, FC Utrecht lost in that game with the score 1-4. Irfan had a role when VVV player tackled him down so FC Utrecht awarded a penalty kick from the referee. Based on information from FC Utrecht website, Irfan Bachdim actually is still under junior team but he get the promotion from the coach, Dou Willem van Hanegem, to the senior team since a lot of member of senior team get injured and skorsing.

Here are the line-up of FC Utrecht team at that time: De Ruiter, Cornelisse, Dickoh, Van der Kooy, Van Buuren, Kruys (Wolters/46), Caluwé (Leeuwin/65), Somers, Irfan Bachdim, Nelisse (Vandenbergh/67), George.

Hope this can be a motivation for all young football player in Indonedia. Go, Indonesia..You can !!!.

Should there is any progress of him, my-blogmedia will infor you later. So, stay tune in my-blogmedia, fellas.

5 Tips to handle the jealousy from your co-workers ...

posted by my-blogmedia | Wednesday, March 12, 2008 |

Hi all, we meet again..., I miss you all..!!.

I got the interesting article about how to dealing with a jeaolus partner in your work. Sometimes we have to compete ourself to get a high appraisal from our boss. When we got promotion or a raise, maight be our co-worker, partner or colleague does not happy with us. What can we do to handle this. Here are the tips from Kate Lorens, the expert from CarrerBuilder.

Here are the tips:
Many negative emotions can rear their ugly heads in the office, but one of the most common is jealousy. Most professionals have been on one side of the jealousy coin at one time or another. You know what it is like to feel slighted by the boss's constant praise of another employee or passed up for a deserved promotion.

But being on the other side is just as troubling. If you are the target of office jealousy, it is probably coming your way simply because you are a stellar performer. So what can you do if a co-worker is out to get you just because you are enjoying some well-deserved success?
Here are five tips to help you keep your sanity – and your success – in tact in the face of office jealousy.

1. Concentrate on being a team player. Sometimes, we work so hard to earn that coveted promotion, special assignment or praise from the boss that we forget to pay attention to the environment around us. But even if you haven't ignored everyone on your team or tried to take all the praise, you probably can make more of an effort to think of others. For example, work on using the word "we" in team meetings more than "I," and enlist the help of co-workers on big projects.

Even if you are the real star, spread the credit around your team and give out praise as much as you receive it. While this doesn't mean that you should shy away from doing what you do best, being sensitive to the feelings of your teammates will make the environment more comfortable for everyone.

2. Enlist help. There is no rule that says you have to go solo in all of your battles in the workplace. If you are uncomfortable because of the actions of a jealous co-worker, speak to your manager. While you do not want your co-worker to be put on the defensive, you need to make your manager aware of the situation. In fact, your co-worker might feel the way he or she does because of your manager. For example, maybe a co-worker is jealous because she feels that she has been repeatedly passed up for a promotion and given no feedback on how to move up. While this has nothing to do with you, it is easier for her to take her feelings out on you than on her superior. If your manager is made aware of the issue, the two of them can address the potential cause. Be sure to approach this conversation carefully and professionally. It will not help your cause if it comes out that you have "tattled" on a team member.

3. Stay out of the gossip trap. Jealous co-workers often do no more than vent to their friends and gossip about employees who threaten them. Whatever you do, don't be tempted to join this negative back and forth. If you hear gossip about you or others, stay out of it. Stay above the fray of petty office politics. If you do, others in the office will take notice and may come to realize that rumors are just rumors and that the gossip is always coming from the same bitter person.

4. Document your concerns if the situation is harmful to your career. Some jealous co-workers can get downright nasty, trying to sabotage a successful person's career. If you find yourself in this situation, all bets are off and you need to look out for yourself. Keep detailed notes if harmful things are being said about you and make sure you have evidence to disprove any negative rumors about your performance. Hopefully, your boss is smart enough to realize a false rumor when he or she hears it. If not, you will have the ammunition to back up your case.

5. Maintain your professionalism. While office jealousy can be hurtful, the best thing you can do to fight it is to remain professional and to keep doing your job the best you can. This means trying not to take nasty comments personally and avoiding any opportunity to shoot back your own biting remarks. Others are jealous of your success. Make sure you demonstrate to them just why you are successful. Set an example that professionalism in the office is the real way to win.

No Country For Old Men...

posted by my-blogmedia | Thursday, March 06, 2008 |

What do you feel if you find US$2 Million cash?.What if somebody pursue the cash cause he have a right to that amount?. Will you run?. That situation happened to Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin). He finds a pickup truck with dead guys al around and $2 MM in cash in the cab. His decision to take the money result in several unexpected event that came. Sherif Bell (played by Tommy Lee Jones) tries to protect Moss, but he never dealt with anything like this before: a sociopathic mercenary who decides whether victims live or die via coin-flip. The mercenary played by Javier Bardem. Javier was nominated for Oscar for the role in this film.

How is the ending?. Woo, I dont want to tell the whole story, but I give 7.5 in 10 scale for this film. This movie is adapted from the novel by Cormac McCarthy, who is the reigning Pulitzer Prize winner. It's a quite long duration film, around 2 hours.

Leo Tolstoy, the Novelist..!!

posted by my-blogmedia | Thursday, March 06, 2008 |

Hi, friends..,

One of our blog reader would like to have a biography of Tolstoy. I'm trying here to make a brief introduction about him. Here is the summarize. Enjoy....

Leo Tolstoy, was born August 28, 1828 in Tula Guberniya of Central Russia. He is one of the Russian nobilty and remained a class-conscious nobleman who cherished his impeccable French pronunciation. He lost his mother when he was two, and his father when he was nine.
In 1884, Tolstoy began studying law and oriental languages at Kazan University. He found no meaning in further studies and left the university in the middle of a term. From the very beginning, his diary (which is extant from 1847 on) reveals an insatiable thirst for a rational and moral justification of life, a thirst that forever remained a ruling force in his mind. The same diary was his first experiment in forging a technique of psychological analysis which was to become his principal literary weapon. The picture at the right is Tolstoy with his grand daughter.

Tolstoy's first literary effort was a translation of A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy. In 1859 he started a school for peasant children at Yasnaya, followed by twelve others, whose ground-breaking libertarian principles Tolstoy described in his 1862 essay, "The School at Yasnaya Polyana". He also authored a great number of stories for peasant children. His marriage is one of the two most important landmarks in the life of Tolstoy, the other being his conversion. For the first fifteen years of his married life he lived in a blissful state of confidently satisfied life, whose philosophy is expressed with supreme creative power in War and Peace. Tolstoy had always been fundamentally a rationalist. But at the time he wrote his great novels, his rationalism was suffering an eclipse. Somewhat surprisingly, Tolstoy did not consider War and Peace to be a novel (nor did he consider many of the great Russian fictions written at that time to be novels). It was to him an epic in prose.
